Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has directed a special team to investigate claims of children being allegedly abducted.

This came to light via social media after a facebook post went viral yesterday alleging possible kidnapping or organ trafficking.

The post is warning parents and guardians to be vigilant and be wary about where they send their children to after a 13-year-old boy is alleged to have been the latest victim.

The Police Commissioner says they will not take any issues concerning children lightly.

It’s alleged the young victim was approached by two men in Saweni, Lautoka and put in a van which he claimed had a fridge in it and there was a girl of the same age.

The boy is alleged to have fought his way to escape and was found by two people passing by who took him to the Lautoka hospital where he was admitted on Saturday before been discharged on Monday.

The Police Commissioner says the team has been deployed and tasked to gather information that could assist in getting the truth.

Qiliho adds they’re working closely with medical authorities to verify these claims.

He says they have also reached out to members of the public to contact the Police should they have any information that they can investigate.
