Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the increase in rape cases especially those involving children is ‘horrifying’.

Bainimarama told FBC News the latest reported rape cases are also shocking and alarming and they have to stop.

‘’We need to nip this in the bud, we’ll have to go out and sit down and have a talk again with all the stakeholders to find out how we can stop this once and for all. It’s really getting out of hand and I feel for families and I feel for the children especially. We want to talk to parents; we want to talk to schools and the churches’’.

Bainimarama added harsher penalties are already there in the court system.
