Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has revealed opportunities for building more desalination plants around the country.

Speaking to FBC News in Sydney, Bainimarama says the visit to the Sydney Desalination Plant was an eye-opener.

Bainimarama says there are plants in Fiji but there is a great need to build something concrete that can assist the supply of proper drinking water.

“We need something concrete like this, not this big maybe one-tenth the size of this. Maybe 10 throughout Fiji.”

Bainimarama says discussions will take place for other investment opportunities.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Inia Seruiratu says the government will continue to look for better options for investment.

“Of course there is a lot to learn from what we have seen so far, particularly in our efforts to continue the development in Fiji. One particular area of interest was on waste management and of course the utilization of water resources as well.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will engage with Fijians in Sydney in a Talanoa session tonight.
