The Government is looking at installing vending machines at various locations so that people are able to top up their e-ticketing cards or purchase disposable cards without any hiccups.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum in parliament today confirmed that Vodafone Fiji is currently looking at the suppliers.

Sayed-Khaiyum says vending machines are expected to make work much easier.

”We are talking to Vodafone, we will start having vending machines so at bus stations, various supermarkets we will actually have vending machines so people can go in put in their $5 like you go in overseas you buy a train ticket you get vending machines you put in your $5 you get a disposable $5 card or I put in my permanent card I want to top it up, I put in $5 in gets loaded.. That at the moment they are looking at various suppliers… so once that comes in it will make work much easier.”

The minister has once again stressed that if a bus company does not have disposable cards, than the passengers can travel for free.

He says there is provision for this in the regulation.
