Minister for Agriculture Dr Mahendra Reddy says he cannot tolerate the comments made by Opposition MP Mosese Bulitavu.

Contributing to the motion in parliament yesterday to strongly condemn Bulitavu’s comments that were published on social media – Dr Reddy emotionally highlighted his own experience.

Dr Reddy says on the day Bulitavu made the comments – his daughter questioned him on the matter.

“I am the father of a 22-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son. On the day Honourable Bulitavu made the comment, my daughter asked me – Dad! Why is honourable Bulitavu making such a sweeping and derogatory comment about our women? Are members of parliament supposed to set the highest benchmark in society? Mr Speaker Sir the title Honourable is bestowed upon us by the people of this country. We are supposed to be role models.”

Dr Reddy urged Bulitavu do justice to his elected position for the betterment of Fiji and join Government to build a community where our women are respected and allowed to grow.
