The Pacific Fishing Company Limited (PAFCO) needs to incorporate efficient practices in order to be commercially attractive for international markets.
Permanent Secretary for Trade, Shaheen Ali said despite PAFCO’s location, the company must maintain standards that are convenient for businesses.
“There are commercial companies that seek efficiency and come to Fiji because it is less hassle. They come to Fiji they can also source their supply, update their wardrobe and boost our economy. That advantage is also there.”
Ali says Government enterprises such as Biosecurity Authority of Fiji, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, Fiji Ports Corporation and Fiji Ports Terminal limited can work together with PAFCO to create this effect.
He adds its vital PAFCO maintain the links between Suva and Levuka.
