The Public Accounts Committee has tabled its first report in Parliament today.

The Committee tabled its findings and recommendations on the Auditor General’s report from 2007 to 2009.

PAC chair – Professor Biman Prasad says the tabling of the Report is the start of clearing a backlog of over twenty outstanding reports from the independent Audit Office since 2007.

Professor Prasad says it is a unanimous report from all the committee members.

“We do hope that the public will be able to see the 33 recommendations and we are also hopeful that the government will take into account those recommendations and we can begin a process of addressing comprehensively some of the issues that the auditor general has highlighted over the last several years.”

Prasad says they are hoping to start scrutinizing the Auditor Generals reports from 2010 to 2013 as soon as possible.
