The Public Accounts Committee is pleased with the way the different ministries have been responding to questions regarding the clarification of issues highlighted in the Auditor General’s reports.

Committee Chairman Professor Biman Prasad says this is because the various ministries are well prepared for these meetings.

“But I am pleased that the ministries and the Permanent Secretaries in charge of those ministries have looked at the reports and others have also addressed the issues. We are also getting good feedback on how these different ministries are doing to improve these situations in the future.”

Prasad added that more serious matters are not being ignored.

“Of course on specific cases of abuse and the recovery of money lost, as identified by the Auditor General, those are specific issues that are being dealt with different ministries and other agencies.”

The Committee met with the ministries Lands, Public Enterprise and Infrastructure today.
