The Oceania Customs Organisation has identified some of the countries that mostly use the Pacific region border to transit or smuggle drugs.
OCO Head Secretariat, Seve Paeniu says the drug trade is increasing with dealers smarting the system.
“So the sources of where these illicit drug trade is coming from are places from the Asian part of the world and also South American countries. So those are the main sources particularly involved in drug trafficking."
Paeniu adds they’ve also recorded an increase in locally manufactured drugs that are either being exported or transitioned through the Asia-Pacific boarder.
