Seventy participants from around the region have gathered in Suva to discuss ways at protecting the Ocean.
They are part of the three day Our Oceans Our Responsibility Conference, at the Novotel Convention Centre.
IUCN Oceania’s Water and Wetlands Programme Coordinator Dr. Milika Sobey says the participants will be able to share their views and experiences.
“The fact that we could bring all these young people together to meet each other to learn from some very important people in their respective fields and then hopefully to have them form a network after the conference is over and to continue in trying to find solutions to the regions oceans issues is very important for IUCN to place a role in.”
IUCN also launched the Pacific Centre for Environmental Governance yesterday.
