September 18, 2015 8:36 pm

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has recorded an increase in obesity in the country.

Assistant Health Minister Veena Bhatnagar stresses people are not including proper food in their diet.

“About 40 percent of teenagers have overweight or underweight or obesity problems and 40 percent of adults over 25 are overweight or obese and I would like to say healthy eating is everyone’s responsibility.”

Bhatnagar is urging faith based organisations and communities to help educate the public on the effects of obesity.

The Ministry is currently working closely with some food industries to improve convenience food products to minimise the increasing results of obesity.
