No oil leakage from sunken ship

The divers have confirmed that there is no light diesel oil leakage from the sunken MV Sulliven.

The dive team identified the two fuel tanks carrying the light diesel oil as confirmed by the ship owner.

Dive operations included the drilling of holes into these two fuel tanks to determine the presence of light diesel oil.

Three holes were drilled into each fuel tank however there were no leakages from the six holes.

Discussions are ongoing between the Transport Ministry, MSAF, FPCL and the ship-owner on insurance matters relating to the sunken ship.

The MV Sulliven sank on Tuesday afternoon and all thirty-four people on board were rescued.
