No more special surveys for shipping companies: MSAF

January 2, 2019 8:15 am

The Maritime Safety Authority will no longer approve special surveys if requested by any ship company.

Special surveys were given in the past to increase the number of passengers on board a vessel especially during peak periods, however this will no longer be the case.

MSAF Chief Executive, Captain Philip Hill has confirmed that no further approvals will be done once they have given the exact number of passengers per vessel.

” We do not do any more special surveys and the reason being is that the ship has not change its size so the space on board remains the same so there is no increase in passengers.”

Two vessels had requested for Special Surveys last month, however it was not approved.
