July 6, 2012 6:50 am

Most residents in Lakeba who went to withdraw from the Post Office this morning are frustrated after being turned away as there were no funds left.

Lakeba tikina representative Nemani Tausere told FBC News, civil servants and workers there are without pay because of the lack of funds.

He says they had previously requested Post Fiji to increase the money to $100 000 but that has not eventuated.

-“The Post Office from Suva used to send $25 000 to the Post Office in Lakeba but that’s not enough, there are a lot of jobs, businesses and Governmnet Officials here in Lakeba. One businessman on Thursday withdew $20 000 and the remaining $5000 is not enough to cater for the whole island.”_

Numerous attempts to get a comment from Post Fiji proved futile.
