A woman who was a victim of yesterday’s early morning fire in Narere is alive and remains admitted in the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Police yesterday sent out confirmation that there had been a fifth victim as a result of the fire.

However, spokesperson Ana Naisoro says miscommunication between hospital staff and investigators, confirming the woman’s death, is what led to the regrettable error.

She says the Fiji Police Force is extending its deepest and sincerest apologies to the woman’s family.

Naisoro has assured all possible actions are being taken to look in to the matter, as well as bringing justice to the family in terms of the investigations.
