Newly planted cane crops affected by TD04F

Most of the newly planted crop under the Cane Development Program has been badly affected by the recent heavy rain and floods.

The Sugar Cane Growers Council and the Fiji Sugar Corporation officers are already inspecting these farms in Rakiraki, Tavua and Ba

SCGC chief executive, Sundresh Chetty, says farmers will be assisted and industry stakeholders will be meeting soon to discuss how best to assist.

Chetty adds they are still working on the final reports after which FSC and SCGC will approach the government for help.
