The Fiji Roads Authority has revealed that it does not have any proper record of past road development.

Chief Executive, Jonathan Moore says they are working with a team of surveyors to create historic data for asset management.

Moore says historic data is vital in continuing roads development in the country and a high level of network resilience is needed.

“If one of the bridges from here to Lami falls down then the only route from Lami to Suva is through princess road then down Namosi Road about 2-3km detour to get to Lami so you got no resilience what so ever and it is a big problem.”

Moore says Viti Levu and Vanua Levu have only one major road and to have network resilience they need to consider some issues which includes capacity of the roads.
