Narrow escape for Fijian delegation traveling to Kenya

A Fijian delegation attending the fourth session of the UN Environment Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya are safe.

This has been confirmed by Environment Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Joshua Wycliffe, who is leading the delegation.

He has confirmed to FBC News the Ethiopian Airlines flight taken by the delegation was ET306 and not the ill-fated ET302.

Wycliffe believes it was a narrow escape and has given assurance to families that they are safe and healthy.

The ill-fated flight ET302 crashed shortly after take-off from Addis Ababa, killing all on board.

The airline says 149 passengers and eight crew members were on flight ET302 from the Ethiopian capital to Nairobi in Kenya.

It says 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, eight Americans and seven British nationals were among the passengers.
