April 8, 2012 1:28 am

The Nadi Town Council is working closely with relevant authorities so the town can begin normal business from Tuesday.

Council chief executive Nemia Tagi says business owners and other teams are working round the clock to clean the town before it is open.

Tagi says movement is still limited in town today and only MH Supermarket will be open until 4.30pm. Vehicles are still not allowed in the town.

Tagi commended the efforts of local authorities who helped in the clean-up.

“We are joining forces with the Police, military and prisoners to help speed up the cleaning of the roads and shops today so that the check points can be lifted on Tuesday and allow people freedom of movement into the town.”

Tagi says Nadi residents who need kerosene or other basic food items can go to the two service stations that are open to cater for their needs.
