The Water Authority has met with the business community, school managements, residents, advisory councilors, and key stakeholders in Nadi to get an update on the progress made to store water.

Board Director Kamal Gounder says it’s important to emphasize on this to ensure no residents are affected during the planned water shutdown next month.

He says residents in Nadi are advised to store as much water as possible with the planned water shutdown just eleven days away.

_"They need to store at least 200 litres of water washing, cooking and drinking purpose so this is what we’re trying to emphasize so that’s why we’re also talking to business communities including the town council in terms of some of the issues they may face and how best the Water Authority can address it.

Kamal Gounder has confirmed a national control centre will be established in Namaka during the four day water shutdown.

“The control centre will be based in namaka and taking in complaints and managing the entire shutdown in terms of request coming in from public and hotels and also from the business communities.”

The Water Authority has also set up additional measures by creating a free toll line 1507 and a separate email [email protected] to assist people on how best to address the issues that will be raised during the shutdown period.
