A Maritime Safety Authority team has conducted a survey of the site where the MV Suilven sunk to ascertain any oil leakages that could threaten the nearby marine environment.

The team also conducted a reconnaissance on the deployment of oil spill equipment at the site should the need arise.

The Fiji Navy Hydrographic Unit also conducted a sweep of the site yesterday and has determined the location of where the Silven is currently resting.

Divers were deployed late yesterday to provide images of the sunken ship and another dive will be conducted today prior to the release of any images of the sunken ship.

MSAF has appointed two marine investigators to commence with their investigation into the incident.

The MV Rogovoka continues to be on standby to assist in the removal of any floating cargo.

The Fiji Police Force and Fiji Navy will continue to monitor the site for safety and security purposes.

MSAF is appealing to all small boat operators to keep well clear of the sunken ship for safety and security purposes.
