Mother and daughter hospitalized with burns

A mother and her daughter are admitted at the Lautoka Hospital after suffering burns when their bedroom caught fire last night.

According to the National Fire Authority, only the bedroom – which the mother and daughter were sleeping in, caught fire and they were trapped inside.

They were rescued by firefighters and conveyed to the Tavua Hospital before being transferred to the Lautoka hospital.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire and preventing it from spreading to the rest of the home and nearby houses in Ralulu Street, Tavua town.

Also last night at Navakai settlement Nadi , firefighters saved a three bedroom corrugated iron and timber structured house.

Only the rear side of the house was damages.

NFA investigations are underway to determine the cause of the two fire incidents..

The NFA is also investigating the fire incident at Kikau Street in Samabula which destroyed a four flat wooden home.
