The Accident Compensation Commission will be visiting communities to raise more awareness on how Fijians can apply for work related injury or death compensation.

Chief executive Parvez Akbar says some have raised concerns that they’re facing difficulties when applying for compensation.

He says having more awareness will provide a platform for Fijians to understand more about the scheme.

We do have visitations planned and we are also connecting with key stakeholders within those communities who will partner with us in terms of the awareness, so visitation is one form of reaching out, that we have in mind.

Akbar says the awareness and education on this initiative is an ongoing process.

He says the commission will also organize workshops in different communities to push the awareness aspect of the Commission and what it offers.

The Commission is expected to visit communities in the coming months.
