April 25, 2019 5:05 pm

Mirchi FM’s Bum Meh Hai Dum is currently in its fifth hour of competition.

Hundreds turned up to witness the start of the popular competition at midday today as the 20 competitors took their seats for the first four hours before a twenty minute break.

For 32-year-old Shasiya Sasika, being the only competitor from the North did not deter her from entering the Suva based competition.

“I came by boat and I enjoyed my trip, i also did my sitting, i had a very big support from Labasa.”

It’s a lucky draw for Sera Tuipolotu who had only eight days to sort her family out and train for the competition.

“I have arrange everything for my family and i told my husband, never mind my name never came up on that 20 but im the wild card entry. If it’s god’s will then that house is ours.”

Leaving home two days ago was the only option for Nawaka resident Reena Devi.

Devi’s daughter Dipika Devi says it’s the first time for their mum to be away from home and her family.

“We came here to give my mum our full support and I’m really excited about it. She did a lot of training.”

Meanwhile Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Chief Executive Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is a way of giving back to their listeners.

“FBC is known for doing thing that has a point of difference that is different from any other organizations so we decided to give a house away because it’s never been done in Fiji by any organization.”

Twenty competitors are currently sitting it out at the Bum Meh Hai Dum in Nakasi.

The competitors will sit for four hours straight before a 20 minute break. This will continue until there is only one person left sitting who will walk away with a house worth $60 000.
