The Ministry of Health has activated a Multi-agency Taskforce Group to stop the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome from entering our ports of entry.

Usamate says although the risk of the MERS virus entering the country is very low, the Ministry of Health has raised concern on the direct flight from Korea to Fiji.

He says they are not taking it lightly as there is a high possibility of the virus entering our shores.

Meanwhile, about 140 people have been infected in Korea since the start of the outbreak last month – fourteen are known to have died.
