The Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Akbar is urging families to respect and take care of senior citizens.

The advice comes in light of reports of elderly persons being abused and not respected.

Akbar says families need to establish strong foundations, through nurturing the values of respect and care for senior citizens.

The Ministry will be partnering with NGO’s to take appropriate measures to increase public awareness on the issue.

It will also work with National Council for Older Persons (NCOP) to create an inclusive, supportive, and enabling environment for senior citizens.
