The authorities will come down hard on those found damaging public amenities warns Infrastructure Minister, Parveen Kumar.
Kumar says an increase in the number of vandalized infrastructure has been recorded by town councils and this will not be tolerated.
He adds the government is investing heavily in the national infrastructure and Fijians need to look after these amenities because it’s for their betterment.
“This is the end of the decades of the neglect in the proper maintenance of our roads with the biggest investment ever made in Fiji’s infrastructure, this is a genuine commitment by your government.”
Kumar says from the 2017/2018 National budget, the government has allocated five hundred twenty-seven point five million dollars to Fiji Roads Authority to improve infrastructure including roads and bridges.
He adds improvement in infrastructure will lead to a safe and reliable transportation system.
