There will be no recruits for female officers yet as the Military is satisfied with the number of female officers in the officer core.
This has been confirmed by RFMF Land force Commander Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho.
The RFMF has just completed a recruitment drive for female soldiers.
“For the officer corp. – the females we have enough of them at the moment and when we need more females into the officer core then we will conduct interviews for that as well.”
Qiliho says they’ve had to turn away a lot of people at this year’s recruitment drive.
The RFMF had only targeted 150 applicants however they received 3000 applications.
Due to the huge interest, the RFMF has now increased its basic recruits to 200 and applicants are currently going through their final medical and police clearances before a list is finalised.
The officer corp recruitment is attracting university graduates and Qiliho says they are needed in the military.
