The Fiji Ports Corporation will finalize the total cost of salvaging the derelict ships in the Suva Harbor by end of this week.

19 wrecks have been identified by the Fiji Ports but only 14 need to be removed as soon as possible.

“We have already advertise and tendered out and now we are actually evaluating the tenders for the removal. The process is moving forward as we’re currently in the middle of that. This all comes under our strategic master plan.”

Piyasena adds removing of wrecks has also been included in their strategic plan which has just been developed as part of a five year plan focused on modernizing their respective Ports.
