Man facing criminal intimidation charges denied bail

A man who appeared at the Suva Magistrates Court facing multiple counts of criminal intimidation was denied bail yesterday.

Elia Marau is charged with seven counts of criminal intimidation, wrongful confinement and grievous harm.

It is alleged Marau wrongfully confined two persons, aged thirty-two and twenty-one in a house in Suva on Monday.

It is alleged Marau and others, threatened to hit the thirty-two-year-old with a chopper.

The accused also allegedly caused grievous harm to the twenty-one-year-old by hitting his leg with a hammer.

Marau is also alleged to have threatened to rape one of the victim’s.

Police constable, Corporal Raymond Filipe objected to bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the offences and the injuries sustained by the victims.

The case will be recalled on June 27th.
