A 24-year-old electrician passed away following an accident yesterday.

The victim was traveling in a three ton truck with three others when the 23-year-old driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road and tumbled down a cliff in Nakabuta, Sigatoka.

The driver fled the scene and was later arrested and was allegedly under the influence of alcohol during the time of the incident.

The two other passengers are admitted at the Sigatoka Hospital while the suspect is being questioned at the Sigatoka Police Station.

The road death toll currently stands at 50 compared to 46 for the same period last year.
