A 54-year-old man is believed to have drowned while spear diving off Yadua waters in the Mamanuca’s yesterday afternoon.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says the victim from Yadua Village was spear diving when he informed a fellow villager that he was taking the lead back to shore.

However a few minutes later his body was found floating and he was rushed to the Sigatoka Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
