The Rarawai Mill

The Fiji Cane Lorry Association has welcomed the move by the Fiji Sugar Corporation to make a new boiler at the Rarawai Mill in Ba.

President, Jiten Singh says they are hopeful the boiler will be ready before the crushing season starts.

Singh claims there were a lot of stoppages at the Mill during the last season and crushing continued until Christmas Eve.

He says many cane lorries were turned back after waiting for two to three days outside the Mill because of the boiler problem.

The FSC will be carrying out a $9.3m refurbishment at the Ba Mill Boiler.

The revelation was made by FSC Chief Operating Officer, Navin Chandra during a consultation with Ba farmers last month.
