Legal Aid Commission increases its reach to rural women

The Legal Aid Commission is expanding its services throughout the country and is now increasing its reach to underprivileged women in rural and maritime areas.

Director Sunil Sharma says the Commission is empowering women through its Legal Literacy programs and is hopeful that more women will take advantage of the services in near future.

Sharma made this comment as we mark the International Rural Women’s Day today.

“We have got an office in Labasa, we have got an office in Savusavu. Taveuni office will open its doors to the members of the public by January 2016 and good news to the people of Nabouwalu, work is in progress and we are going to have a centre in Nabouwalu.”

The Commission is planning to establish its office in Kadavu and Levuka next year.
