Large turnout in Labasa for Christmas shopping

Shoppers in Labasa are out in a last minute rush to get their Christmas shopping done.

People turned out in large numbers and good weather helped them get their groceries, vegetables and even livestock for Christmas lunch.

Market Vendor – Shiro Mani says the sales have been good all week.

Livestock farmers are also pleased with high sales this Christmas.

Kamal Deo managed to sell thirteen goats by mid day today.

He says even though the price may be high, it doesn’t deter buyers.

Every year fifty nine year old Losena Andrew looks forward to Christmas for a different reason.

Andrew counts herself lucky, as she celebrates her birthday on Christmas Day.

‘’I just plan to stay with my family, we just want to celebrate with them and be happy this festive season’’.

Come tomorrow, thousands of Fijians will enjoy the season with gifts, food and catching up with family members
