Landowners in Vanua Levu are urged to take advantage of the incentives and opportunities for development made available by the government.

Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere says now that the government has made the whole of Vanua Levu a tax free zone, landowners should capitalize on this opportunity.

He says there are talks of many land issues but he believes these issues are created out of the old way of thinking and landowners not utilizing their land.

“Government has improved our roads, they have given us incentives and opportunities. It’s only the communities, the people, the landowners, they need to come out of their comfort zone, they need to utilise these opportunities so they can fully realise its benefits.”

Ratu Wiliame adds if landowners cannot utilize their land, then they should lease it out rather than leaving it idle.
