Landowners failed to meet criteria

Many landowners applying for the government’s i-Taukei land development scheme have failed to meet the criteria.

This was revealed by Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum as vetting of all applications has started and is currently underway.

All Landowners are eligible to apply for this grant however Sayed-Khaiyum says some criteria’s have not been met.

“Couple of the ones we found that they were disputing claims over the land that was being proposed to be developed and there are two different groups in the land owning unit so obviously will need those matters resolved.”

Ten million dollars have been provided by the government to focus on increasing benefits to the i-Taukei landowners for developments to be undertaken on their land.
