Lal denies Corruption Charge

An Operations Manager pleaded not guilty today to a corruption related offence in the Suva Magistrates Court.

Reginald Lal is charged by the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption with one count of falsification of documents.

The N. Mudaliar and Co. employee is alleged to have falsified Tax Compliance Certificates from the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service to obtain a gain from Advance Construction and Aldex Trading Limited.

FICAC informed the court that there were no admissions to the offence in the caution interview.

Defence counsel told the court that they would not be challenging the contents of the caution interview.

The Magistrate adjourned the matter to April 18th for a pre-trial Conference.
