Katonibau to take his plea next month

Former Fiji rugby sevens rep, Isake Katonibau, has been ordered to surrender his passport to the Suva Magistartes Court registry.

A bench warrant was issued against Katonibau yesterday after he did not appear on court in the morning.

He eventually did appear in court in the afternoon.

Katonibau is facing serious assault.

It’s alleged in the early hours of June 17th, the 35-year-old assaulted Special Police Constable, Peni Verekauta on Carnavon Street in Suva.

Constable, Verekauta was trying to stop a brawl involving the rugby rep, when he allegedly punched by Katonibau twice causing injury.

Katonibau will take his plea on the 13th of next month.
