Investigation for MV Liahona II commences

The Maritime Safety Authority has launched an investigation to determine the cause of MV Liahona II’s mishap at sea.

On Good Friday, the vessel owned by the South Island Shipping while on route to Kadavu lost its roll-on-roll off ramp and took in water.

Chief Executive, Captain Philip Hill says two investigators have been engaged and the findings will be ready in two weeks.

“With small investigations like the ram that has fallen over, within two weeks they will produce their draft report, we will look at the report and amendments can be make or whatever to the report.”
Captain Hill has confirmed this is the second local passenger vessel mishap this year.
