India will continue to help Fiji: Padmaja

India has stressed that it will continue to help Fiji with plans to assist in various sectors.

High Commissioner to Fiji, Padmaja says they’re helping revive the sugar sector and looking at ways to upgrade the rail network.

She adds they’re also supporting counterparts in the region in dealing with catastrophic consequences of natural disasters.

“We are responding to these natural disasters in a timely manner. Be it the aftermath of the tropical cyclone Winston in Fiji or TC Gita in Tonga India is standing firmly by the side of our partners in the region as an all-weather friend.”

Padmaja adds they will support the fight against non-communicable diseases to promote sustainable live styles through Yoga and Ayurveda

The Indian government is also keen to help upgrade Fiji’s infrastructure.
