Improved road conditions for Lakeba

Close to 2000 people living in Lakeba Island will benefit from the recently constructed road.

Fiji Roads Authority Programme Manager Capital Works Delivery, Johari Abdullah says the main circular Road links eight villages on the island.

Abdullah says some of the works included were shaping and trimming of existing subgrade, cross culvert installation, construction of headwalls, removal and construction of new bridge decks, drainage construction and seawall construction works.

This project was under the Eastern Island Roads Upgrade project for maintenance and renewals of the existing roading network, and bridge repairs superstructure replacement, on Moala, Vanuabalavu, Lakeba and Koro Island.

Meanwhile work on Koro Island is expected to be completed by December.
