An immigration officer who has been charged with one count of rape appeared at the Nadi Magistrates Court today in a special court sitting.

35-year-old Praneil Prakash is alleged to have raped a 21-year-old woman in Nadi this month.

Prakash was also denied bail by Magistrates Peni Dalituicama and has been remanded.

The case will be called again on Monday.
