Hundreds pay last respects to Lavenia Padarath

The funeral of the late President of the Fiji Labour Party Lavenia Padarath is underway at the Wesley Church in Suva.

In attendance are family members, friends, the Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, colleagues from the Fiji Labour Party as well as other Parties who came to pay their final respect.

FLP Leader Mahendra Chaudry while delivering his Eulogy said Padarath will be remembered for her intolerance of injustice and discrimination.

Chaudary also hailed Padarath for being a true daughter of Fiji who continued to fight for justice after the 2000 coup.

The former Prime Minister says that Padarath was amongst the five women in the FLP government that were held at gunpoint during the rebels attack in parliament in 2000.

The Nursing fraternity and the Adi Cakobau School old girls also paid their last respects today.
