The Housing Authority of Fiji has so far dispensed 60 percent of the government housing grant.

Housing Authority Chief Executive Joshua Wycliff says this is due to the increase in the demand for housing.

“We have able to dispense 60 percent of the Housing Assistance Grant (HAG) which just shows the level of interest the market has, year to date between January to June we have able to provide 60 plus customers with HAG assistance”.

People can apply for the Housing financial assistance through the Government’s Rural Housing Assistance Program however proper documentation and verification is necessary to take advantage of this program.

Earlier this year the government has announced that Fijians with annual income less than $50,000 are eligible for a grant of $10,000 for the construction of a new house and a grant of $5,000 is also available for those eligible to purchase an existing first home.
