A heavy rain warning remains in force for the Eastern half and the interior of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Lau and the Lomaiviti Group.
Also a flood warning remains in force for low lying areas and areas adjacent to Naqali River with a flood alert in place for low lying areas adjacent to small streams for Vanua Levu and the Eastern half of Viti Levu.
This is attributed to the trough of low pressure slow moving over the Eastern part of Fiji which comes with associated cloud and rain and is expected to affect the country over the weekend.
For the rest of Fiji, cloudy periods with some showers and thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and evening.
Forecast for those areas affected, periods of rain which will be heavy at times and a few thunderstorms.
The Fiji Meteorological Service highlights that localized heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas, so those residing in flood prone areas are to be more vigilant and take the necessary precautions or move to higher ground.
