For Pinktober Month this year, the Fiji Cancer Society will be advocating on breast cancer in males.

FCS board member, Josephine Oyagawa says males in our societies need to know that they can also be diagnosed with this killer disease.

Oyagawa says even though breast cancer is commonly thought of as a disease that affects women – it also occurs in men.

“Men are coming up to us and are registering with us as well. The message is getting out there about male breast cancer, which is here in Fiji. So we want to educate the men as much as possible about breast cancer that is amongst the men also.”

According to the society, one such case was recorded last year but this year, three men have been diagnosed with breast cancer
