Health Minister Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete

The Government is implementing two approaches to fight the battle against Non Communicable Diseases.

Health Minister Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete says one is an intergovernmental approach to strengthen network and support and the other through public private collaboration with other sectors like Faith Based Organizations and Corporate Organizations.

Dr. Waqainabete says the large burden of chronic, non-communicable diseases is a growing concern not just on the public health system but also from an economic perspective.

He says NCDs is a silent killer that claims many lives, burdening families and the nation in terms of the health costs incurred as a result of direct care needed in the treatment process.

He adds the fight against NCDs needs a collaborative partnership among all stakeholders.
