Health Ministry monitors food safety

December 21, 2016 5:43 pm

Food safety is high on the Health Ministry’s priority list as it monitors flood stricken areas.

Minister Rosy Akbar says it is also the responsibility of consumers to purchase safe and acceptable goods to avoid food borne illnesses and diseases.

“Consumers again need to be vigilant in what they choose to buy and probably for traders, we expect they do not engage in practices where they put the health and safety of our people at risk over profit. If things have to be discarded, it lies on the traders to discard those products that are not satisfactory for human consumption.”
