A fifty-two-year-old former head teacher of a school in Suva has been sentenced by the Suva Magistrates Court to eighteen-month imprisonment for indecently assaulting a twelve-year-old student.

The student was the head-girl of the school where the accused formerly taught at.

The incident took place on July 19th, 2016.

The accused touched the hand and breast of the student when she went to his office to pick up her flash drive from him.

Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage said there was a serious breach of trust as accused was the guardian of the students during the time they spend in school.
